Artist Statement

As a pure mathematical thought, we assume that sound waves within Earth’s atmosphere possess the capacity to approach the numerical abyss, the mathematical concept of zero, but never quite reaching it. In reality, sound is not physically infinite, But it transcends through our biographies, imprinted in our identity, age, and socialization. This subjective infinity manifests as sound deeply influences our perception of the sonic environment and creates sonic heritage. Today’s cities grapple with noise pollution from diverse sources. Based this concept, the artwork explores how residents of our urban soundscape, each with unique biographies and diverse backgrounds, can connect with city sounds intertwined with their individual past experiences.

Project : resonance

In mathematical terms, sound never reaches zero amplitude; it approaches infinitesimally small values as time tends to infinity. This concept focuses on mathematical modeling and limits, serving as a thought experiment rather than reflecting the real-world behavior of sound. How can past sound models shape future cities?
